PRESIDENT’S COLUMN
At four years of age, the Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council is still growing strong! We continue to mature and to make a positive impact on our community.
We work hard to ensure that city government gives due consideration to the needs of our stakeholders – persons who live, work, or own property in the Greater Toluca Lake area. We work closely with Councilman Tom LaBonge and continue to forge close relationships with City department heads. Each member of the Council is committed to fostering positive growth within our community and invites you to participate in whatever way you can.
Join us at our monthly general meetings, on the third Tuesday of every month (except August), and receive updates on what is happening in your area, from street repairs to construction and crime prevention. Or attend one of our committee meetings – that’s where the action is!
Want to know what’s going on? New city sewers, new water lines, street paving, stop signs, building development and expansion, tree and flower plantings, new trash cans, new medians, and citizen recognition – it all gives new meaning to “the city never sleeps!”
Come and get your hands dirty in one of our many environmental projects. Most recently, 75 volunteers joined us in a project on Magnolia Blvd. as part of “Big Sunday” and the Mayor’s Day of Service.
One of the current challenges we face is the rampant growth in our community. The onus is on us to educate ourselves on the process and to work with the City and developers to create an environment that works for us all.
I invite you to join us and become part of the solution. It takes a village to create a “greater” one.
